Odyssey of 90 soldiers back to Spain: no space for weapons on the plane and stuck bus

The first rotation of Spanish soldiers belonging to the Extremadura XI Brigade from Latvia, have returned to Spain after staying for six months in the Eastern European country, where they were carrying out a mission.

The arrival in Spain, specifically in Badajoz, occurred at 4:00 in the morning this Tuesday although it was scheduled for Sunday. However, an unexpected delay meant that it took more than 30 hours for the soldiers to arrive in Spain.

According to the authorities, the flight was delayed due to a technical problem, and although the landing had to take place at the Talavera la Real base, it was finally diverted to Madrid, from where they were transferred by bus to the Extremaduran town.

In total, this is a group of 90 soldiers, who make up the first of the three rotations that will return to Spain from Latvia. For their part, the authorities have reported that the next flight will take place this Wednesday, December 11, and they hope that on this occasion, without any setbacks, it will be able to land in Talavera at 6:30 p.m.

The last rotation will do the same next Sunday, December 15, the day in which all of them will set foot in Spain to spend Christmas with their families.
