Zelensky slams the door in the face of the US with his young soldiers

From the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, He recently stated that his country will not resort to the “youth of soldiers” as a measure to compensate for the military shortcomings that the invaded country is experiencing.

That was the message posted by the top Ukrainian president on December 9 through social networks, after several US officials recommended – or pressured – the Ukrainian executive to reduce the recruitment age from 25 to 18 years and thus be able to mobilize more troops.

“We should not compensate for the lack of equipment and training with the youth of the soldiers,” said the president through his X account. In this sense, he stressed that “the priority should be the supply of missiles and “the reduction of Russia’s military potential, not the recruitment of Ukraine.”

But the Ukrainian president did not stop there, and stressed that “the goal should be to preserve as many lives as possible, not to keep weapons in storage.” So, Zelensky said Ukraine would have to focus on equipping and training “existing brigades” and demanded greater support from the allies.

This request was immediately reciprocated by the US although with one condition, specifically by the spokesman for the US State Department, Matthew Miller, who assured that his country will train and arm Ukrainian soldiers as long as kyiv lowers the recruiting age for soldiers.
