Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni became the most powerful person in Europe this year, according to Politico magazine. On Tuesday, this international media included the president of the Italian government at the head of its ranking called “Year 2025”, TASR informs, according to Wednesday’s report by the news agency ANSA.

The online magazine Politico, based in the USA, published a ranking of the 28 most powerful people in Europe. “If you’re Elon Musk – the world’s richest man and a key adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump – the number you’re dialing belongs to Giorgia Meloni,” the magazine wrote. He called Meloni a perfect “representative of the increasingly radical spirit of the times, which flourishes on both sides of the Atlantic”.

“In less than ten years, the leader of the right-wing Brotherhood of Italy (FdI) party rose from the position of a rejected political outsider to the position of Italian Prime Minister and has become a figure with whom Brussels, and now Washington, can do business,” wrote Politico. The magazine described how Meloni gained power and the main events of her two-year rule, which is widely regarded as one of the most stable in post-war Italy, ANSA reports .

Politico points out that power in Europe, like in previous years, is not gender balanced, not racially diverse and not represented by young leaders. Pope Francis is the only non-European member of this ranking. She is also the most popular personality on social networks with over 18 million followers on the X platform. That is six times more than the second in line – French far-right leader Marine Le Pen.
