Poland signed a contract for the purchase of American MQ-9B SkyGuardian drones worth $310 million. They are to serve the specialized drone units that will be established on January 1, 2025, Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Thursday, TASR reports, according to the PAP news agency.
The MQ-9B drones have an altitude range of 15 kilometers, reach a maximum speed of approximately 480 kilometers per hour and can stay in the air for up to 20 hours. They can be used for reconnaissance, but also for attacks.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that by the end of the year, Poland will conclude other agreements regarding the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles.
