Tarcísio management assessment remains stable, but safety disapproval rises

The general assessment of the administration of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans)remains stable, but the population’s perception of performance in the area of ​​public security has worsened, according to a Quaest survey released this Thursday (12). The survey, carried out between December 4th and 9th, interviewed 1,650 voters in the state of São Paulo.

Public security was the worst rated sector of the Tarcísio administration. In April, 31% of those interviewed considered performance in the area to be negative; now, that number has risen to 37%. At the same time, the positive rating dropped from 33% to 27%. The research was conducted amid a series of cases of police violence that gained prominence in the state.

Other areas also showed a worsening in the population’s perception: Health, with a negative evaluation rising from 32% to 34%; Education, which had a negative perception, rising from 23% to 25%; and Public transport, whose negative evaluation increased from 24% to 26%.

Despite the drop in specific sectors, the government’s overall approval remained practically stable, with 61% of voters approving the administration, compared to 62% in April. The disapproval index also remained close, varying from 25% to 26%.

The area of ​​infrastructure and mobility continues to be the highest rated area of ​​management, with a 45% positive rating, despite a slight drop compared to the 49% recorded in April. Another positive highlight was the generation of jobs and income, whose positive assessment rose from 39% to 43%.

Interior x Metropolitan region

The government’s assessment is more positive in the interior of the state, where 40% of those interviewed consider management to be good, compared to 33% in the capital and metropolitan region. On the other hand, the regular classification predominates in Greater São Paulo, with 39% of responses.

The survey has a margin of error of two percentage points and was carried out at a critical moment for public security, reinforcing the challenges of Tarcísio de Freitas’ management to balance its general popularity with the specific demands of more sensitive areas.

Methodology

Quaest carried out 1,650 face-to-face interviews in São Paulo between December 4th and 9th. The margin of error is two percentage points.
