A few hours before the Miss France evening, Sylvie Tellier expresses a big disappointment

This December 14, 2024, the big election is organized from Futuroscope in Poitiers. This year, they will offer a show around the theme The big misses’ ball and will perform through various dances such as twist, tango or country. Impatient to discover the identity of the new Miss France, in any case expressed a big disappointment via her Instagram account. The shared a post indicating that the Miss Netherlands competition was going to be canceled after 35 years of existence. In question? Its organizer, Monica van Ee, declared on December 12, explaining that this election was not “more of our time”. As a reminder, the last winner, Rikkie Kolle, became in 2023 the first transgender woman to win the competition.

Disappointed with this news, she wrote in her story: “I obviously find it very good to highlight female success stories, but I can only regret the elimination of this national competition. In a world that sometimes lacks light and magic, beauty pageants offer an enchanted parenthesis, a moment to celebrate beauty, freshness and a certain optimism. To eliminate this competition is to renounce a tradition which allows us to bring together, to dream, and to celebrate beauty in all its forms. Far from being reductive, these competitions also highlight the personality, values and ability of the candidates to inspire. I remain convinced that they have their place in our society, today more than ever“.

A competition that would be “no longer of this time”

For her part, Monica van Ee does not seem to be of the same opinion and announced that this beauty contest will be replaced by a platform called More of this time dedicated to mental health and positive stories. “Times have changed and we evolve with the times (…) No more crowns, but stories that inspire. No dresses, but dreams come to life“said the organizers.”Maybe a sash and a crown are no longer relevant. But women supporting and helping each other is timeless for us“, a conclusion Monica Van Ee.
