Cyclone Chido hit Mozambique this Sunday (15). Utility poles and shelters were toppled and roads were flooded.
A video published by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) showed the strength of the wind and flooded roads in Pemba, a city on the northeast coast of Mozambique, in Cabo Delgado. Unicef said it was responding to the needs of those affected by the storm.

Cyclone Chido also hit the French archipelago of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean before heading towards the east coast of Africa. and the storm damaged makeshift housing, government buildings and a hospital.
Malawi and Zimbabwe also prepared for the cyclone’s arrival. Zimbabwe warned part of the population about evacuation orders.

According to Météo-France, France’s national weather service, the Mayotte storm was the strongest in more than 90 years to hit the islands.
