The new direction of the (Federal University of Paraná) will have the doctor specialized in pediatric surgery and professor Camila Fachin as vice-rector of the institution.

She is the daughter of the minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) Edson Fachin and was elected in September on the ticket headed by professor Marcos Sunye, who took office on Friday (13) as rector. The new vice-rector will only take office on March 8, 2025.

The difference in dates has occurred since 2006, when the then rector Carlos Augusto Moreira Jr left office to run for Mayor of Curitiba. At the time, vice Márcia Mendonça took over his position at the university and since then there has been a gap between the beginning of the dean’s and vice’s terms.

Sunye and Camila were elected for a four-year term. Their list won with 62% of the votes in the public consultation with the university community, appearing first on the triple list sent to the president, who confirmed the names in a decree published on the 4th.
