A new character has come to light in the case of the attempted extortion of the family of former Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher. A nurse is being investigated for allegedly participating in the episode, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. The nurse’s name was not revealed by the publication. Since the accident suffered by Michael Schumacher in 2013, the German’s family has kept the former driver’s health condition in absolute secrecy.
Markus Fritsche (Schumacher’s former security guard), Yilmaz Tozturkan (nightclub security guard) and Daniel Lins (Tozturkan’s son and technology expert) allegedly threatened Schumacher’s family and asked for money so as not to publicly reveal images and personal files of the former Formula 1 driver.
The trio was arrested in June. According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, more than 1,500 of the former pilot’s personal files were stolen. They were stored on four pen-drives and two hard drives.
At the beginning of the trial of the three men, the nurse’s name was mentioned as a possible participant in the extortion scheme. The health professional would have helped the accused to obtain information, images and videos of the former pilot.
Another employee who works with Michael Schumacher’s family testified in court, saying she had seen “not very pretty things”, suspecting the nurse’s behavior in the case.
The nurse was not officially charged. Authorities continue to investigate whether the woman actually had direct participation in the extortion attempt against Michael Schumacher’s family.
