One of Bahia’s pillars, the versatile Thaciano lived a different 2024. Fixed in attack by Rogério Ceni, the player showed a keen eye for goal and ended the year as Bahia’s top scorer, with 15 goals.

In the internal duel between the tricolor’s front players, Thaciano surpassed center forward Everaldo, who was used more on the wing than as a reference throughout the year. Eve scored 11 goals, and appears in second place in the top scorers ranking.

Midfielder Cauly and midfielder Jean Lucas, with nine goals each, occupy third place, while Colombian Oscar Estupiñan, who left the Bahian club in July, completes the top-4, with eight goals in 21 games.

Since 2017, Thaciano has not had such a positive season in terms of goals. That year, he scored 10 times for Boa Esporte. Thus, in the current season, the now attacking midfielder set his record in the same year.

By the way, the last goal scored by Thaciano was perhaps the most important. Against Atlético-GO, the number 16 used his head to overcome goalkeeper Ronaldo and open the scoring at Fonte Nova. In the end, the 2-0 victory guaranteed the Squadron’s qualification to the Libertadores after 35 years.

The 15 goals scored by Thaciano were shared across all competitions that Bahia played in. There were two in the Campeonato Baiano, four in the Copa do Nordeste, two in the Copa do Brasil and seven in the Brasileirão.

Despite the personal record, not everything was rosy for Thaciano. The player went through long periods without scoring during the year and had his title questioned by the fans.

The biggest fast during the year was 15 games and ended precisely in the Squadron’s last match of the year.

On the positive side of the coin, Thaciano was known for being Bahia’s hero in some games, including the 2-0 victory over Grêmio, away from home, when he scored both goals.

For 2025, Thaciano should gain new teammates in attack. Bahia’s football director, Cadu Santoro said in an interview with ESPN that he has the offensive sector as one of his priorities for next year.
