The film “Lee”which portrays the trajectory of World War II photographer Lee Miller (played by Kate Winslet) opens in cinemas this Thursday (19).
Lee Miller, who was first a model, became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II. Miller’s talent resulted in some of the most iconic war images of the 20th century, including a photo of herself posing defiantly in Hitler’s private bathtub.
Miller was also marked by the struggle for understanding and empathy for women victims of war. The film portrays the professional in her journey as she also faces a traumatic secret from her childhood.
The film was nominated for the 2025 Golden Globe award for Winslet’s performance. The actress competes with names like Fernanda Torres (“I’m Still Here”), Pamela Anderson (“The Last Showgirl”), Angelina Jolie (“Maria Callas”), Nicole Kidman (“Babygirl”) and Tilda Swinton (“The Room Next Door”).
In addition to Winslet, “Lee” also stars Andy Samberg, Alexander Skarsgård, Josh O’ Connor e Marion Cotillard. Directed by Ellen Kuras (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”).
