The president of Vitória, Fábio Mota, revealed that the red-and-black club is planning support campaigns for LGBTQIAPN+ fans next season. The statement was made during an interview with CORREIO.
“Vitória is an eclectic club, it is not prejudiced against anything. If we were prejudiced, we wouldn’t have Fatal Model as one of our main partners. For 2025, we intend to have other campaigns reinforcing support for the LGBT community”, said the president.
Orgulho Rubro-Negro is Vitória’s LGBTQIAPN+ fans. In 2023, under the management of Fábio Mota, the club sought to get closer to the group to strengthen the cause with affirmative actions. A batch of promotional tickets is made available by the Bahian team on behalf of the organized fans.
“We raise awareness, always with open doors. Red Black Pride was introduced to projects that are being formulated. Whenever possible, when they contact us, we try to welcome these fans, who suffer retaliation”, explained Vitória’s social director and community actions, Mário Bello.
Even before interacting with the organized fans, the club was already positioning itself on affirmative dates, in addition to displaying messages on the screen, voiced by the Barradão announcer, against homophobic chants.
This year, Me Salte/CORREIO carried out a series of reports entitled “Bola Colorida: What’s behind LGBTphobia in football”. The six articles published aimed to explore the intersection between the historically heterosexual world of football and the LGBTQIAPN+ universe.
