Ingredients needed
First, prepare all the ingredients, which of course can be adapted to your current possibilities. For the basic recipe for patties, you will need 1 cup of cooked rice, 1 large handful of chopped leeks, 1 smaller handful of grated carrots, 1 clove of pressed garlic, 1 tablespoon of chopped basil, 3 tablespoons of plain flour, 1 whole egg, 50 ml of milk, a pinch of salt and pepper and oil for frying. To make the dip, all you need is white yogurt, tartar sauce and chopped basil or herbs you have available.
Preparation of rice patties
Pour plain flour into a bowl, add milk and add eggs, salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients properly and then add the cooked rice, carrots, leeks, basil and garlic. Mix everything thoroughly again. The result should be a compact mass.
Next, heat a little oil in the pan and place on them using a small pile of dough, which you spread into the shape of patties. Fry each of them on a moderate level of the hot plate until golden brown on both sides.
How to make a dip
Put the white yogurt in a small bowl, add the tartar sauce with chopped basil and mix carefully. Tartar sauce can easily be replaced with ordinary mayonnaise, and children will certainly appreciate a drop of ketchup.
You can serve on the table
Rice patties can be served just with a dip, but you can also add mashed potatoes or fresh vegetable salad to them as a suitable side dish.
A few useful tips
Rice cakes can be enriched with grated cheese that you have available at home, you can also use ham, bacon or canned tuna cut into pieces.
