The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, appointed General Julio César Avilés as head of the Army for another six years
The president of , , appointed general for another six years Julio Cesar Aviles as head of the , a position he has held since 2009. In a Presidential Agreement published this Saturday (21) in the Official Gazette, the president decided to “appoint Army General Julio César Avilés Castillo to the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Nicaraguan Army ”.
According to this presidential agreement, General Avilés was proposed by the Military Council to continue in office due to his “military, professional and personal merits”. Avilés will remain in office until February 21, 2031, according to Ortega’s agreement.
