US President-elect Donald Trump is looking forward to a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he will discuss the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
After taking office, he will also crack down on illegal migration and develop a pan-American missile defense system. He said this on Sunday in his speech at the AmericaFest event organized by the conservative non-profit organization Turning Point, which was held in the city of Phoenix, the capital of the state of Arizona. TASR informs about this with reference to the CNN television portal and the DPA agency.
“President Putin said he wanted to meet with me as soon as possible. So I’ll wait for it, we have to end this war,” Trump said. He described the conflict in Ukraine as terrible and repeated that if he had been the president of the USA instead of Joe Biden, it would not have happened.
He talks about the largest deportation of illegal immigrants in US history
Trump has announced that he will sign a series of executive orders on his first day in office to close the US border to illegal immigrants. According to him, this step will stop their invasion of American territory.
At the same time, he confirmed his intention to begin the largest deportation of such people in US history. “Every foreign gang member and illegal alien, every criminal network that operates on American soil will be dismantled, deported and destroyed,” promised Trump, who has repeatedly criticized current President Joe Biden for inaction in this area.
Trump further announced that he would order the military to begin development of a “large Iron Dome missile defense shield”, which will be produced exclusively in the United States. According to Trump, former US President Ronald Reagan already wanted such a system, but the US military at that time it did not have the necessary technologies.
Trump also plans to lift all existing restrictions on energy production and gas exports put in place by the Biden administration. “To save our economy, I’m going to sign executive orders on my first day (in office) that will end all of Biden’s restrictions on energy production, end his senseless decision on electric cars, end his ban on natural gas exports,” Trump said. He added that he would also declare a state of emergency in the United States due to the energy situation.
The president-elect will also demand the swift return of the Panama Canal to US administration, “in full.” As before on his Truth Social platform, he argued that Panama violates both moral and legal principles by charging “exorbitant” passage fees to American merchant and military ships. “This robbery of our country will stop immediately,” Trump declared.
Banning TikTok will not support
In addition, he announced that Denali, the highest mountain in North America, wants to return its former name of Mount McKinley, referring to former President William McKinley. “President McKinley was a president who knew how to raise huge amounts of money,” Trump argued. He would thus reverse the decision of the administration of President Barack Obama, who in 2015 returned the name up, which means “tall” in the language of the local Indians.
Trump has again indicated that he will not support the impending ban of the short video sharing app TikTok in the US, which was developed by the Chinese firm ByteDance. “I’ll have to start thinking about TikTok. Maybe we should keep him for a while,” he said at the conference.
ByteDance claims that TikTok has 170 million users in the US. However, there are concerns that the Chinese government could gain access to user data. TikTok is defending itself in the US Supreme Court against a law passed in April that requires it to be sold by January 19 or face a ban.
