App drivers’ PL leaves Congress’s radar – 12/22/2024 – Panel

The bill sent in March by the Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) government to Congress should not be resumed, according to members of the Executive and the Chamber’s leadership.

The regulation of these workers is a campaign promise from Lula and represented a gesture from the PT member to the segment, which is more aligned with the former president (PL). The text, however, did not please the category, which harshly criticized the proposal.

An aide to Lula says that the issue has fallen off the radar and there is no expectation that it will be resumed, precisely because it has caused “unnecessary damage” to the image of the federal government and, above all, the president. A leader from the center says that there is no possibility of this proposal moving forward. He states that the project was “already stillborn”, given the amount of criticism it received.

The project was sent to Congress after a year of debate. The proposal also faced resistance among parliamentarians. The Executive’s first defeat occurred in April, given the risk of it not being approved, a setback for the Minister of Labor, .

At that moment, the government leader in the Chamber, (PT-CE), stated that there was an agreement with leaders and the president of the House, (PP-AL), for the project to be analyzed in thematic committees and taken to a vote in plenary. even in the first semester — which did not happen. In the second semester, the topic also did not progress in the House.
