“We will inform everything that was requested”, says AGU after Dino blocks amendments

The Attorney General of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias, told CNN that before evaluating any request to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in the action on the payment of parliamentary amendments, he will examine and pass on the requested information to the Court.

“We will examine the decision and inform everything that was requested by minister Flávio Dino. Only after this examination will it be possible to assess the appropriateness of any request”, he informed.

In the decision, the minister gives ten working days for the AGU to send three pieces of information to the STF. Dino wants to know the amount committed and paid, by type of parliamentary amendment and by body or entity, between the months of August and December 2024.

It also asks for the names and CPF of those legally responsible for the commitment and payment of parliamentary amendments in the same period. “The same list must also be informed when the 2025 budget is executed, within 10 (ten) working days, counting from its beginning”, he adds.

The minister also requests a copy of the letters and minutes received by the Executive Branch in the months of November and December, relating to amendments RP 7, RP 8 and RP 9 (remains to be paid).

In the wake of , which had new developments this Monday (23), Dino’s decision presents a broad criticism of the issue. Without naming names, he said that some situations are not compatible with the constitutional order.

“It is not compatible with the constitutional order, notably with the principles of Public Administration and Public Finance, the continuation of this cycle of (i) complaints, in the tribunes of the Houses of the National Congress and in the media, about poorly done works; (ii) misappropriation of funds identified in audits by the Audit Courts and Controllerships; (iii) suitcases of money being seized in planes, safes, closets or thrown out of windows, in the face of repeated police and Public Prosecutor’s Office operations,” he wrote.
