The City Hall Secretariat for Transport and Urban Mobility called an extraordinary meeting of the CMTT (Municipal Traffic and Transport Council) this Thursday (26) to discuss the fare.
People who follow the topic say that management () may announce at the meeting an adjustment in ticket prices — the value of R$4.40 has been in effect since January 2020.
On the 14th, the new value should still be below inflation. He repeated his speech that his intention is to maintain the current price, but that it is necessary to balance transport bills with areas such as health and education.
According to an invitation sent to the councilors, the meeting’s agenda is “evaluation of the tariff elements of the Bus System in the City of São Paulo – SPTrans”. When contacted, the city hall did not respond.
“The mayor, instead of expanding the zero fare, penalizes the people who most need public transport. Sad post-election decision”, says federal deputy Jilmar Tatto (PT-SP), who has the zero fare theme as his flagship.
