Comedian and Emmy winner, Ben Schwartz43, does not have the typical physical type to play a character from the Marvel or DC franchises in the cinema. However, as Sonic’s voice actor, a role he will reprise in “Sonic 3“, the artist sees in animation the possibility of making this dream come true.

“It’s incredible, it’s the closest experience I’ve ever had to being a superhero,” he tells CNN. “Children approach me and ask me to voice the character. It’s great to be able to offer something that cheers people up.”

For Schwartz, playing Sonic is exciting precisely because of the many layers that the character offers. “I always liked video games, so I played a lot of Sonic. In games, he has attitude and personality”, he explains. “For example, when you take a long time to play, he looks at the screen and taps his foot impatiently. This doesn’t happen with Mario or other games, for example.”

He continued: “To voice him, I wanted him to be happy and funny, but I also wanted the audience to feel all of the character’s emotions, like when he gets lonely.”

, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails team up to face a fearsome enemy: Shadow, a mysterious villain with unprecedented powers, totally different from the challenges they have already faced. Using their unique abilities, Team Sonic will attempt to form an unexpected alliance with the goal of defeating Shadow and saving the planet.

e James Marsden reprise their roles as Dr. Robotnik and Tom Wachowski, while Ben Schwartz, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey return to voice Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, respectively.

The big news comes from , who will be responsible for voicing the character Shadow. “Sonic 3: The Movie” hits theaters this Wednesday (25).
