“Hysteria”: When “woke” present meets the attack in Solingen in 1993

On the night of May 29, 1993, a house was set on fire in the city of Solingen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The perpetrators knew exactly what they were doing. They were targeting people with a migrant background. Five members of the Genç family lost their lives that night: two young women and three children. Little Bekir survived with serious injuries. Solingen 1993 is an important date in the historiography of German reunification. And it stands to reason that the cinema should also take on this topic.
