Survey at the request of the Ministry of Tourism indicates an increase of 34% compared to the period from December to February last year
The Ministry of Tourism announced that more than 35% of Brazilians plan to travel from December 2024 to February 2025, according to a Nexus survey. The survey commissioned by the ministry showed that 97% of those interviewed chose a national beach as their preferred destination to enjoy their vacation. The Nexus institute carried out the survey from October 14 to 28, 2024, interviewing 5,542 household interviews with citizens aged 16 and over in the 27 federation units. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
In the evaluation of the research, the expectation is that tourism in the period will generate R$ 148.3 billion, an increase of 34% compared to the same period last year.
“Brazilian tourism is experiencing a moment of breaking records and good results for the sector and the summer season will be decisive for an even better 2025”said the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino.
According to the minister, research into Brazilian travel trends and destinations contributes to directing public policies to more desired places.
“Brazilians continue to value the country’s natural beauty and will spend more time on vacation, in addition to spending more, boosting the states’ economy”said Sabino.
The survey also revealed details about the duration of the trip, type of accommodation, region of origin of tourists, average family income, reasons for not traveling in the summer and the average ticket of Brazilians for vacation.
The average duration of a vacation is 12 days, according to the survey, with 67% of respondents saying the trip will last up to 10 days. The main reasons given for not traveling during the summer are the lack of financial conditions and time.
