A dog died after suffering trauma to the skull due to mistreatment in a pet shop in Curitiba.
Mel was a Yorkshire puppy and was 15 years old. The animal received veterinary care, underwent examinations, but did not survive the injury.
Images from the pet shop’s security cameras show that the employee violently uses the grooming brush on the dog who, at various times, tries to avoid the woman.

Mel began to feel ill while there and the pet shop owners contacted the owners to check the animal’s situation.
The pet shop owners noticed that the dog had an injury to the head area. After checking the security camera images, the mistreatment against Mel was confirmed.
Law 14,064/2020 provides for detention of two to five years in a closed regime in cases of animal abuse, and in the case of death the sentence can be increased by a third.
