Bandits broke into the SoccerGrass company’s warehouse and stole around R$1.3 million worth of synthetic grass. The crime took place in São Paulo last Monday (23) and is now being investigated by the Civil Police.
The company is a supplier of the Allianz Parque pitch, among others, and the amount stolen, 8,000 m², is practically the size of the Palmeiras stadium pitch. The grass would be installed at the FIFA Legado CT, in Balneário Camboriú (SC).
According to Uol, the bandits used three trucks to invade the warehouse. They stayed there for four hours. The company had access to security images from the street, which show part of the thieves’ movements, but there is no monitoring inside the factory. They registered a police report.
SoccerGrass is offering a reward for anyone with information about the grass. The company believes that the criminals planned the crime already knowing who they were going to sell the material to. “The loss is around R$ 1.3 million. To import, it takes around 90 days, not counting the dollar that keeps rising. We have never been through a situation even close to this in 30 years”, says the president of company, Alessandro Oliveira.
