A man driving a pickup truck down Bourbon Street “at a very fast pace” killed 10 people and shot at New Orleans police officers, Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said Wednesday morning.
Two officers were struck and are in stable condition.
“Last night, we had more than , and because of the intentional mindset of this perpetrator – who bypassed our barricades to conduct this. He was determined to create the carnage and damage that he did,” Kirkpatrick said.
The FBI will take over the investigation, according to Kirkpatrick.
