Márcio França says he is waiting for Lula to run for office – 01/01/2025 – Panel

The Minister of Entrepreneurship, , does not hide his desire to run for the government of São Paulo in 2026 as President Lula’s candidate.

“I’m part of the government, and naturally I await a decision from the president about the future. But the research we have is good,” he says.

Affiliated with , he already held the position in 2018, after the resignation of the then governor, Geraldo Alckmin, to run for President. At the time, França tried for re-election, but lost to João Doria (PSDB).

Recently, França shared the results of a survey by the Badra Institute in which he appears ahead of governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) and another name from the left, Alexandre Padilha (PT). Ahead of France, according to the survey, only Pablo Marçal (PRTB).

The Lula government has not yet started discussing who will be its candidate for Bandeirantes in 2026. In addition to França and Padilha, Fernando Haddad (PT) and Alckmin himself are mentioned.
