The combination of the delicate sweetness of plums and the spicy potato base creates a taste experience that is beyond ordinary cuisine.

There are two ways to prepare this dish, so you can choose according to your taste and mood.

The first option will please lovers of classic fried potatoes. Start by making the dough. Mix the grated potatoes with eggs, plain flour, salt, marjoram and pepper. The consistency should be just right, the dough must not be runny, but not too stiff either. Heat butter or oil in a pan and gradually fry the potato pancakes until golden.

Prepare the plums and make the sauce. If they are fresh, simply wash them, deseed them and cut them into smaller pieces. Soak the prunes in water or rum for a while to soften them. Just melt some butter in a pan, add the plums, sprinkle them with sugar and let them caramelize for a while. The finished sauce perfectly complements the potato pancakes and gives them a sweet contrast.

The second option is even easier and is especially useful when you are cooking for several people. Instead of frying the dough in a pan, you use the oven. Prepare the dough in the same way as for the first variant, but instead of frying, pour it onto a carefully greased baking sheet. Spread the surface of the dough evenly with plums, which you can lightly sprinkle with sugar or cinnamon if you like a more pronounced sweet taste. Put the whole tray in the oven and bake at 180 °C until the potato is golden and the edges are nicely crispy.

Both methods have their charms. Fried potatoes with sauce are more traditional and offer a contrast between the crispy dough and the juicy plums. The baked version, on the other hand, is a more convenient option, where the flavors are combined directly during baking. Try both ways and see which one becomes your favorite.
