The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced, this Thursday (2.Jan.2025), that it added 28 North American companies to its export control list. The objective is “safeguard national security and interests”, according to information from .
The list, which includes a series of trade measures, could intensify tensions between the 2 countries. Among the companies are a , aea , all from the defense, technology and aviation sector.
The sanctions come into force immediately and mainly affect exports of dual-use items – products that can be used for civil and military purposes. Furthermore, they included 10 companies in the “list of unreliable companies” because of an alleged link to arms sales to Taiwan.
While many of these companies already faced sanctions, these new actions reflect the increasing pace of China’s punitive measures against the United States.
The decision also comes as the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump (Republican) approaches, who promised to impose new tariffs and sanctions on Beijing.
