Five people were killed and more than 30 others injured after a tourist bus crashed into a tree in Thailand on Wednesday. The bus was heading from the southern part of the country to the city of Samut Sakhon near Bangkok. TASR writes according to a report by The Straits Times and TASS.
According to the TASS agency, the accident injured 27 Russians, who were taken to hospital for treatment. The Russian Embassy in Thailand told the agency that no one has yet requested consular assistance. Local the police assume that the bus driver did not know the road and lost control of the vehicle in a curve. The bus overturned and hit a tree.
The bus with tourists was returning from a trip to the city of Samut Sakhon. Rescuers found two men and three women dead at the scene of the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. The bus driver and his assistant were brought to the police station and charged with reckless driving.
