ADSE changed the reimbursement rules for various healthcare services, including the purchase of glasses, at the beginning of this year, introducing a new model that combines greater flexibility with an annual reimbursement limit. The changes also cover exams and surgeries, with the updating of tables and the inclusion of new medical procedures, in a process that aims to adapt the system to technological developments.

According to the news portal, the co-payment for glasses is now subject to an annual limit of 180 euros. According to the same source, however, the reimbursement rate of 80% remains under the free regime, which continues to guarantee significant support to beneficiaries.

More freedom in choice

One of the most relevant changes is the elimination of time restrictions for participation. There are no longer limits on the number of frames and lenses reimbursed within defined periods, as was the case previously. With this change, beneficiaries now have greater flexibility in using the benefit throughout the year. The new model simplifies access to reimbursement, even though it establishes a maximum annual limit.

The changes are not limited to optics and cover different medical specialties. According to the same source, ADSE reviewed the price lists for exams and surgeries, including areas such as radiology and gastroenterology.

New medical acts included

The update includes around 200 medical procedures and more than a hundred new codes. The publication adds that many of these codes are associated with diagnostic tests, such as CT scans and MRIs. The inclusion of these acts allows access to more advanced techniques without increasing costs for beneficiaries. The objective is to align available services with the evolution of healthcare.

The review of the tables also seeks to update the reference values used by ADSE. This update follows the technological and clinical changes recorded in recent years. The changes have an expected budgetary impact of around R$15.4 million per year. This value reflects the effort required to adapt the system to new conditions.

Balancing cost and access

Despite the increase in expenses, the entity considered the review necessary. The same source states that the objective is to guarantee a system more adjusted to the needs of beneficiaries. The changes now announced are part of a broader ADSE update process. It should be noted that the adaptation of the rules aims to respond to the current demands of the health sector.

In practice, beneficiaries now have greater freedom in using the support, but within defined limits. This combination can influence how healthcare is planned throughout the year. The new model seeks to balance flexibility and cost control. It is, therefore, an adaptation that aims to make the system more current and functional for its users.
