The royal family was hit with devastating news. At the age of 47, the Thai princess Bajrakitijapcha, the eldest daughter of the Thai king Maha Watchirálongkon, died. The palace announced it in Friday, June 12. It comes more than three years after she was hospitalized following a sudden collapse.
The princess was suffering from an infection in her abdominal cavity and “her condition continued to deteriorate”, the royal court office said in a statement. She finally “died peacefully” on Thursday evening. The only child of King Maha Vatchiralongkorn’s first marriage to Princess Soamsawali, known as “Princess Bha” in Thailand, was hospitalized in December 2022 when she suddenly fell unconscious.
The death of the princess also affected Slovak businessman and millionaire Alexander Rozin Jr. “Respectfully remembering Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabhau,” he wrote on the joint photo, which he posted on the social network. You can view the shot in the photo gallery.
The princess was also indelibly recorded in the memory of politician Boris Kollár. “I remember her, she was an extraordinary woman. I had the honor to meet her personally thanks to her good friend Alex Rozin,” he revealed. “She was a very wise, intelligent and educated woman. The Thai people loved her and one day she would make an excellent possible successor to the throne. However, fate wanted it differently. May she rest in peace, beautiful soul,” added Kollár.
She also worked in Slovakia
Princess Bajrakitijapcha was educated in Britain, Thailand and the United States. She studied law at Cornell University, worked as a prosecutor and for a time also held the post of Thai ambassador in Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia, the portal writes
“I ask myself, who am I? A prosecutor? A criminal lawyer? A diplomat? The answer is all of them together. I call myself a hybrid,” the princess said in an address to her professional career before an audience at Cornell University in 2012, as the university’s Cornell Chronicle reported at the time.
She also held several positions within the United Nations (UN) and was involved in women’s rights, including improving conditions for women in prisons. As a princess, she had an important ceremonial role in Thai society, in which the royal family stands at the very top of the hierarchy. She had a close relationship with her father, and a year before her hospitalization, she was appointed to a high position in the headquarters of his bodyguard.
