According to local media, the victim is allegedly Siemion Skrepetski, a Russian artist, blogger and critic of the Kremlin living in exile. Information from the Polish media was summarized by the Warsaw correspondent TASR.
Based on available information, the perpetrator fired several shots at the man from close range. Despite resuscitation, he could not be saved. “It looked like an execution. A few close shots and one to land.” a policeman familiar with the details told the Onet portal.
The police launched a large-scale search after the shooting and set up road checks at the exits from the city. The media reported on the detention of one of the alleged perpetrators near the Belarusian consulate. Polsat News reported that the police detained several people, but later released them.
According to the Podlaski.info portal Skrepetski criticized the Kremlin’s policy for a long time and in his work addressed the social and political situation in Russia.
According to the Rzeczpospolita daily, local media reported that he had been in Berlin in recent days, where he participated in events dedicated to the war in Ukraine and the Russian opposition.
