Colombian who played for Atlético-MG and won titles, arrives at the club free of charge after speaking with coach Juan Vojvoda

An old dream of the board and the coaching staff, the young Colombian, aged 22, will defend the colors of the club for the next four seasons. The praised striker who played for and won titles, arrives at the club free of charge after speaking with the coach. “Fortaleza Esporte Clube announces the signing of Colombian striker Dylan Borrero. His contract with Leão do Pici is valid until the end of 2028, with the possibility of renewal for another year. The athlete arrives without acquisition costs”, informed the Ceará club.

“We understand its arrival as a great market opportunity. When he was at Atlético Mineiro, we tried to bring him, but at the time he was sold for almost 4 million euros. Now, there were other proposals from clubs in Colombia and Brazil. Vojvoda liked the name, had a conversation with the player and felt his desire to recover his career here in Brazil and at Fortaleza”, highlighted Marcelo Paz, CEO of Fortaleza EC SAF.

A versatile player with good physical size, Borrero was scouted by Fortaleza when he was at Atlético-MG, where he won the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa do Brasil in 2 and a half years. The numbers, however, did not make the deal happen and he ended up moving to New England, from Major League Soccer (MLS). Now, it arrives in the Northeast under enormous expectations.

“Borrero has good height and is old enough to develop sporting performance, health, vitality and, who knows, in the future, even a good sale to Fortaleza. He arrives with all internal approval for a four-year contract with the possibility of another”, said Paz. The Colombian, in addition to playing wide on the wing, also plays in various positions in midfield, as a playmaker or even as a second midfielder for his good technique and speed.

“Dylan Borrero is a young 22-year-old Colombian athlete. His contract with New England ended and we saw a good market opportunity, with no transfer costs. The player arrives with 70% of his economic rights belonging to Fortaleza. He is a player who is hungry, who wants to play in the World Cup, who wants to return to his main team, Colombia”, explained the Football Director of Fortaleza EC SAF, Alex Santiago

“He is a very technical athlete and we are convinced that he will perform well in Brazilian football, during his time at Fortaleza, so that we can pursue great goals”, concluded the director.
