Immediate repercussions in Europe after Ukraine's decision: "The heating was cut off and we have no hot water"

The inhabitants of the Moldovan region of Transnistria do not have heating. The gas supply was interrupted this Wednesday after the expiration of an agreement between Russia and Ukraine which limits the circulation of Russian gas through Ukrainian gas pipelines.

An employee of one of the electrical networks in the region has stated in statements obtained by the Polish media that “there is no heating or hot water.” In fact, “the plant’s website states that the heating was turned off at 07:00 in the morning (local time).”

“The company He called on residents to take shelterstay in one room, hang blankets or thick curtains on windows and balconies, and heat your apartments with electric heaters,” the publication states.

According to data released by the media, this region has received about 2,000 million cubic meters of Russian gas per year. Still, “the rest of the country does not depend on gas from Russiasince it buys the product from the European and world markets”.

This situation is the result of the breakdown of a historic agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Thus, the Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenskihas justified this decision so that Russia “does not continue earning billions with the blood of Ukrainian citizens.”
