An assassination attempt was made against him on Sunday, as reported by the anti-regime channel General SVR, which is headed by a former top Russian spy.
Asad began to feel unwell: he coughed and felt like he was suffocating, with doctors rushing to his aid. “There is every reason to believe that there was an assassination attempt,” a source told Russia’s General SVR.

According to the channel, Assad was treated at his apartment and is in stable condition as of Monday.
