Father of Macaco Leader suspected of embezzling R$53,000 from firefighters for personal expenses

Jaime Madureira is suspected of having embezzled 53 thousand euros from the Royal Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Porto, which he presided over between 2015 and 2019, to pay for trips to restaurants and purchases in supermarkets.

Jaime Madureira, former president of the Royal Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Porto (RAHBVP), was accused by the Public Ministry (MP) of embezzlement, having allegedly embezzled more than 53 thousand euros of the institution between 2015 and 2019. According to the complaint, the amount was used for personal expenses, such as meals in restaurants and purchases in supermarkets.

Madureira, who led the association between 2007 and 2019, reportedly instructed the secretariat employees to deliver the receipts to you in cash from the institution, from the end of 2014, instead of depositing them into the bank account of the Porto Volunteer Firefighters. This practice, as described by prosecutor Rosário Barbosa, allowed him to use the money to finance personal expenses without the approval of the other members of the board, reports .

The MP details that the defendant spent 24,808 euros in mealsincluding breakfast, lunch and dinner in restaurants located in Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia. One of the dinners cost 664 euros. Additionally, around 10,798 euros were used to purchase supermarket products, including shrimp, personal hygiene items and medicines such as Guronsan, all for personal use.

The indictment emphasizes that these expenses were not related to the operation or interests of the RAHBVP and did not have any type of formal authorization.

The case gains greater public attention due to the fact that Fernando Madureira, son of the defendant and known as “Monkey”former leader of Super Dragões, is also facing legal problems, and is currently in preventive detention as part of Operation Praetorian, a case relating to attacks and threats to FC Porto members at a general meeting.

Jaime Madureira must now respond to the accusations in court, and the MP intends to clarify the extent of the irregularities during his administration.
