Political scientist Lara Mesquita said the departure of the Lula government party, although of great repercussion, must have a more “more effective” impact on governability.
In an interview with CNNthe teacher of FGV (Getulio Vargas Foundation), stressed that the party support to the government was already notoriously limitedwhich mitigated the strength of the break.
“We have to remember that União Brasil already had fragmented and partial support to the government. Not for another reason, the party occupied a ministry of weight, the Ministry of Tourism,” said the political scientist.
Mesquita argues that the importance of the ministry was proportional to what. “He [União Brasil] It gained a ministry with a proportional weight to what the party delivers to the government, ”he said.
Signs of caution and internal action
In the teacher’s assessment, the party’s own internal movements suggest that the exit will not be immediate or complete. She notes that the lack of urgency in party actions reinforces the thesis of symbolism.
“He [ministro do Turismo, Celso Sabino] It is not fulfilling the 24 -hour ultimatum to leave the folder. He said he would only leave next week, ”he noted.
In addition, the political scientist stressed that if the exit were actually effective, there would be no attempts to maintain influence on the government structure.
“So much so that the Minister of Tourism is trying to oil things so that,” Mesquita explained.
She also minimized the request for anticipation of the deadline, noting that the anticipation is only 10 days and “is not an extraordinary thing.”
Lara Mesquita also suggests a prudent analysis of the situation, especially about the future of the votes that the party could provide to the executive.
“I would do this reading with caution. I think that [formalização da saída] It won’t be completely effective that the party will not deliver any more vote to the government, ”he said.
For her, a crucial institutional factor for the continuity of the relationship is the presence of a member of the acronym in a strategic post. In this case, Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP).
“It is always good to remember that the president of the Senate is from União Brasil and he has a lot of strength within the party until the institutional position he occupies,” he recalled. According to the teacher, Alcolumbre has not signaled that will abandon the government in “all its agendas”.
