South Korean authorities move to detain president

Yoon Suk-yeol was recently removed from office by the national assembly after declaring martial law for a few hours in early December.

South Korean authorities are moving towards Yoon Suk-yeol’s home to serve an arrest warrant against the president, according to Yonhap news agency, cited by Reuters. The arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday.

Yoon Suk Yeol was recently dismissed by the national assembly after declaring martial law for a few hours, at the beginning of December.

As soon as the arrest warrant was issued, hundreds of the president’s supporters have gathered near Yoon Suk-yeol’s official residence. And it was to these same supporters that, through a letter, he promised to “fight to the end”.
