Chega deputies doubled their salary (some earn 24 times more in Parliament)

Some Chega deputies significantly increased their annual income with their election to Parliament. There are those who have earned 24 times more than before being elected deputy.

The magazine analyzed the salaries of Chega deputies, a party that has harshly criticized politicians’ salaries.

Analysis of income declarations submitted to the Parliamentary Transparency Entity reveals that the party’s deputies earned, on average, 29 thousand euros per year before being elected.

After gaining a seat in the Assembly of the Republic (AR), they gained around 60 thousand euros per yearconsidering the monthly salary of a deputy which is 3892.14 euros – or 4301.84 euros if they are on an exclusive basis.

There are deputies who have doubled their income, others have tripled it, but there are also those who have started to earn 24 times more than before being elected deputy, according to Sábado’s accounts.

Filipe Melo went from 6800 euros per year to 92 thousand euros

The deputy Filipe Melore-elected by Braga, had income of 6800 euros annually before arriving at Parliament. After being elected as deputy, Cónego Melo’s grandnephew won 92,500 euros annually.

The music teacher Pedro Correiaevangelical and vice-president of the Chega district in Santarém, increased his salary by 252%according to data from Saturday.

E Carlos Barbosawho worked as a legal and political advisor in the Chega parliamentary group, started to earn more than double after being elected deputy for Braga.

Chega recently criticized what was implemented within the scope of the “Troika”.
