There are Americans who voted for Donald Trump who are disappointed with the future US president’s recent statements, defending a type of visa for immigrants that interests Elon Musk.
There are those who talk about a “stab in the back” and those who feel a “slap in the face” after Donald Trump said that the country needs “many” immigrants.
After insistent and continuous anti-immigration positions, Trump publicly supported the position on H-1B visa program which is designed to hire qualified immigrants for technology industries.
Elon Musk’s companies, namely a Tesla e a Space Xcan especially benefit from this type of visa.
And Trump’s words are outraging some of his supporters who fear that many Americans can be “sacrificed”losing their jobs to foreigners.
Insinuations about American “mediocracy”
“The reason I am in America, along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strongit’s because of H-1B”, wrote Elon Musk on his social network X, the former Twitter.
Vivek Ramaswamy, Elon Musk’s future co-leader in the Department of Government Efficiency that the tycoon has in the White House, also highlighted in X that “the American culture venerated mediocracy above excellence“, thus justifying why companies hire foreign workers.
The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if…

Trump says the US needs “a lot” of immigrants
Trump echoed Musk’s views on the need for skilled foreign workers, noting that he has always felt that the USA must have “the most competent people”.
“We need competent people. We need smart people to come to our country; we need a lot of people to come“, the future president of the USA.
“I have always been in favor of visas”Trump also said in statements to The New York Post, noting that he has many workers on H-1B visas at his properties.
“I have always believed in the H-1B. I used it many times. It’s a great program”, he also highlighted.
“A stab in the back”
Many Trump supporters who voted for him in the 2024 presidential election appear to only now be discovering this position on H-1B visas and feel broughtaccusing “their” president of “lie”.
On the platform, one of these supporters feels these words from Trump as “a slap in the face”. “It looks like you are giving in to pressure from big technology companies and Elon Musk“, use.
“We didn’t vote for him to increase legal immigration”he also highlights.
Another angry supporter says on the same platform that he did not vote “for globalization and the import of people from countries that hate us”.
“I’ve been without a decent job for a long, long time, and I’m fed up“, laments another Reddit user who believes that “Trump just gave the Democrats a midterm victory in 2026”.
There are those who criticize Elon Musk, questioning whether this is what the tycoon “always wanted”. “Is that why you worked so hard to elect Trump?”asks a Reddit user who talks about a “stab in the back”.
“They should be ashamed of what they say about Americans“, concludes this user.
