A 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook . President Nayib Bukele has confirmed, in his X account, that the epicenter of the earthquake is on the coast of La Paz, in the Pacific, 70 kilometers from the country’s capital and at a depth of 33 kilometers. The Salvadoran Ministry of the Environment, which has ruled out the threat of a tsunami, has recorded six other subsequent earthquakes, all on the same coast. “In the face of seismic activity off our coast, it is crucial to remain calm, take precautions and be informed,” he said on social media.

The Vice Ministry of Transportation of El Salvador has reported that no damage has been recorded to the road network in the Metropolitan Area of ​​San Salvador after the earthquake, according to the first review of the video surveillance system. The Civil Protection Directorate has activated the Emergency Operations Center, but so far it has not reported any damage.

More than 20 years have passed since the last major earthquakes in El Salvador, which left more than 1,000 dead. Since then, earthquakes have occurred in the Central American country, but without serious damage.
