The documentary series “BBB: The Documentary – More than a peek” starts airing this Tuesday (6), on TV Globo. You four episodes will air between January 6th and 10thafter the soap opera “Mania de Você”.
The documentary, directed and scripted by Bruno Della Latta, features some of the most iconic participants from the last 24 editions of the program, which began airing on Globo in 2002. The production aims to show how BBB has become a cultural phenomenon and a “mirror” of the social transformations that Brazil has undergone over the last two decades.
“I realized that ‘Big Brother Brasil’ goes far beyond entertainment, being a living reflection of the cultural, social and behavioral issues of each era. I’ve always tried to look at the program as a snapshot of its time. What topics were debated that year? Who was chosen as the winner? What clothes were people wearing? What songs were playing? You can watch BBB and understand a lot about what was happening in Brazilian society. It was this line that I followed to create this documentary”, explained Bruno in a statement released by TV Globo.
The director also justified the choice of ex-BBBs who were invited to be part of the program, as the fact generated a stir on social media.
“The choice [pelos entrevistados] It was not made based on criteria of importance or visibility. They were the ones who could best contribute to the story we want to tell and who exemplify the social, cultural and behavioral transformations that we show in the documentary”, said Bruno.
The series also features testimonials from the program’s presenters over the years, such as Pedro Bial, Tiago Leifert and Tadeu Schmidt, and the directors, Boninho and Rodrigo Dourado. Besides the creator of the Dutch John de Mol Jr.
“BBB: The Documentary – More than a peek” is directed and scripted by Bruno Della Latta, written by Elli Cafrê and content produced and directed by Amanda Prada. The genre direction is by Mariano Boni.
