The Federal Police (PF) must present a complementary report to the investigations into the alleged attempted coup d’état in Brazil, in 2022, at the end of the then president’s government Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The statement is from the general director of the PF, Andrei Rodriguesin an interview with the newspaper The Globe published this Monday (6).
According to the head of the corporation, more statements and documents seized as part of Operation Countercoup, launched in November last year, are being analyzed so that new conclusions on the case can be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
Bolsonaro and 39 other people were indicted by the PF for crimes such as violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état and criminal organization. It will be up to the PGR to present any complaints against those involved or not.
“There are still questions that are being investigated, even as a result of Operation Countercoup. Based on the seizures carried out in this phase, statements collected, those that will still be taken and other factors that are being investigated, we will finalize a complementary report that will also serve as a basis for the Attorney General’s Office to carry out the analysis”, he stated. Asked whether the parallel report would provide greater details about the financing of the coup acts, the director general of the PF responded: “People expect there to be one or a few large financiers, but the investigation is clear in pointing out that there were several people, some already arrested and sentenced. One provided a bus, another provided water, another provided food… There is this spraying.”
New arrests
In the interview, the PF director general was asked about the arrest of General Walter Braga Netto, former Minister of Defense and Civil House of the Bolsonaro government, and about the possibility of further arrests.

“It was demonstrated that he [Braga Netto] I was trying to interfere with the plea bargain [de Cid] and obtaining information from the investigation. The PF does not enter into party political issues. We will not persecute or protect anyone. If there is a new fact that meets the legal, technical and legal requirements, it is possible that other arrests will occur”, says Rodrigues.
“No one is immune to legislation. We all have the same feeling that we need to separate institutions from those people who have gone astray. In fact, a federal police officer has already been arrested. We are not going to put our hand on anyone’s head, be it military personnel, police officers or independent professionals.”
Plan to kill Lula, Alckmin and Moraes
Andrei Rodrigues was also asked, in the interview, The Globeabout the plan of the so-called “black kids” to assassinate the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)or vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and the minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The episode is also being investigated.

“We have already been criticized: ‘Look, thinking about killing is not a crime’. But no one was indicted for attempted murder or any reason other than a coup d’état. That [o plano] is a fragment of the report, within the context of the coup, of an action focused on neutralizing the main actor, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the elected president and vice president, so that social disruption could be created. It did not happen because two of the Armed Forces did not join [Exército e Aeronáutica] nor the popular commotion that was imagined. But we are not talking about considerations, these are actions that were put into practice”, he states.
“People were on the streets watching Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The printing of a plan to kill the President of the Republic was made inside the Palácio do Planalto, and the plan was taken to the Palácio da Alvorada, where the then President of the Republic was”, concludes the PF director general.
