Are thoughts something real?

We now know that electrical stimuli are constantly occurring in the brain. They can be picked up on the head using electroencephalography (EEG) and located in the brain using positron emission tomography. When images have been viewed, other centers are activated than when calculating. Assuming we could locate and assign an individual thought electrically so precisely that we would recognize what it means in terms of content: Is it then more than the electric current? Is he something real? Or does it lie outside the physical world? Does the information it contains have an existence in itself, beyond the electric current, or is it only “in the world” when understood by humans? Which arguments speak for and which against the thesis “Thoughts are more than electricity”?
