“Black Friday” scam: customers exchanged tags at IKEA to pay 26 euros instead of 1318

Crime happened on the last day of the year at IKEA in Alfragide. The two men were detained by the PSP.

On December 31, at IKEA in Alfragide, two men were detained by the PSP in the payment box area, after those responsible called the authorities.

At issue was a fraud carried out by two men, one aged 25 and the other aged 37. The swindlers had changed the labels on the items, so as not to pay a bill that, if everything had gone normally, would would amount to 1318.90 euros.

At the end of the shopping, when paying, the bill only gave a total of 26.73 euros, since, with the changed labelsthe barcodes passed by the cashier signaled different values ​​(and items) from the products that were actually being purchased.

But the crime was noticed by an employee while the two men were changing the tags, in a less than discreet way. It was this employee who called the authorities.

He jokes that crime is “a kind of Black Friday generous and out of time.”
