Dollar closes close to stability, quoted at R$ 6.11

News about Donald Trump’s tariffs influenced the result of the US currency this Wednesday (8.Jan)

The dollar closed up 0.09% this Wednesday (January 8, 2025), quoted at R$ 6.11. It is close to stability compared to the previous day’s value (R$ 6.10). The North American currency, however, has remained above R$6 for 27 days.

The currency started the day with more strength, but the rise slowed towards the close. The maximum of the day was around 11:44 am, when it reached R$6.16. The minimum, at R$ 6.10, around 4:30 pm.

WHAT MOVED WITH THE DOLLAR

The result was influenced especially by news from abroad. THE CNN stating that the future president of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), is considering establishing an economic emergency to justify a more intense tariff program.

The creation of fees is a campaign promise. Trump has already declared that he wants to tariff countries like .

The market is also waiting for one of the most important North American indicators, the payroll –measure of job creation. It will indicate whether the country’s economy is booming. The announcement will be on Friday (10 January).

On the domestic side, uncertainties remain about Brazil’s fiscal policy. Public approval was not enough to calm investors, who consider the measures insufficient.

Brazil’s economic agenda will also be busier. Official inflation data will be released on Friday (Dec 10). It is unanimous among financial agents that the indicator will be above the target established by the government.
