The foreign ministers of France, Germany and Poland are planning a trip to Washington shortly after the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trumpwhich will take place on January 20. Three European Union diplomats told Politico on condition of anonymity, reports TASR.
The goal of the joint trip of the ministers from the three leading countries of the Union is to “demonstrate European unity”. German Minister Annalena Baerbocková, French Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Polish Minister Radoslaw Sikorský could also be accompanied by the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallasová, according to two sources.
According to Politico, the trip is still in the planning stages and no exact date has been set yet. EU leaders have expressed their willingness to work with the Trump administrationbut they are also wary of possible moves such as trade tariffs or his threat to annex Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
