Model Gabrielly Vitória, 19, lost the title of Miss Araucária 2024, after posting a video on social media in which she appears throwing “firecrackers” to scare away cats from a plot of land in the city of Araucária, in the interior of Paraná.
The Civil Police of Paraná was notified and opened a police investigation, this Tuesday (7), to investigate the facts of animal abuse, which foresees up to 5 years in prison and a fine.
Law No. 9,605, of February 12, 1998, provides for detention from three months to one year and a fine for anyone who commits acts of abuse, mistreatment, injures or mutilates wild, domestic or domesticated, native or exotic animals.

In cases of dogs and cats, like the young woman, the penalty is greater: imprisonment of 2 to 5 years, fine and prohibition of custody, when the aggressor is the guardian of the animal, according to law 14,064, of September 29, 2020, sanctioned by then president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The penalty is increased by one-sixth to one-third if the animal dies.
The decision to remove the model’s title was taken by the contest organizers, who said that the measure was taken after analyzing the situation and understanding the seriousness of the events. The “loss of the crown” aims to reinforce the contest’s position in relation to animal welfare and highlight that such acts will not be tolerated.

Miss Araucária 2024 spoke out about the case on social media. According to her, the video was edited and that at the time of recording the video “there were no cats” in the place.
Regarding the loss of the “reign” as Miss Araucária, Gabrielly informs that it had already ended at the end of 2024 and, therefore, there would be no way for her to “lose” the title. Check out the position of the former miss.
