The United Socialist Party, the dictator’s party, is one of the most influential members of the Forum, alongside the PT, the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua and the Communist Party of Cuba.
Despite the Lula government’s criticism of Maduro, the PT’s support for the Venezuelan regime remains intact.
In addition to Valente, Camila Moreno and Vera Lúcia Barbosa, members of the party’s national executive, and Valter Pomar, director of international cooperation at the Perseu Abramo Foundation, are in the country.
