End of rain and sun peeking through the weekend

Maximum temperatures rise across (almost) the entire country. On Saturday, showers are still expected, but on Sunday it is possible to pack your umbrella.

This Friday is marked by rain and cloudy sky in almost the entire country (more likely in the South and Central interior). Warnings still remain in place due to bad weather, but the situation will change this weekend, according to forecasts from .

On Saturday, the rain only lasts on the coast, leaving the interior of the country (with the exception of Portalegre). In the coastal zone, only Lisbon escapes the rain this Saturdaybut “periods of light rain or drizzle are still expected that day”, points out the IPMA.

But on Sunday, the scenario improves: the IPMA no rain forecast for any regionwith the exception of Azoreswhere the weather is expected to remain almost unchanged compared to Friday. In this archipelago, Sunday is still a yellow warning day due to strong winds and sea disturbances.

On Sunday, the trend is also a increase in temperature, but only the maximum. In general, the lows fall. In Lisbon, for example, this Friday a maximum temperature of 17ºC and a minimum of 13ºC are expected. For Sunday, these numbers rise to 18ºC and 10ºC respectively.

In Porto, the difference between the maximum and minimum will be even more significant: it goes from a maximum of 16ºC and a minimum of 14ºC to a maximum of 18ºC and a minimum of 9ºC.

As for the ventoon Sunday, the IPMA that is “weak to moderate (up to 25 km/h) in the northern quadrant, sometimes strong (up to 40 km/h) in the high landsbecoming moderate to strong (30 to 45 km/h) northeast in the highlands later in the day.”

In Lisbon and Aveiro, the sky should remain partially cloudy, but in the rest of the country there will be few clouds.

The meteorological website also points out that the maximum temperature and the sun that will be throughout the country do not prevent temperatures drop, in general, in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes and in Beira Alta (in Bragança the minimum drops from 9ºC on Friday to 0ºC on Sunday).

A Madeira will be the region with the highest temperaturewith a maximum forecast of 22ºC for Saturday and 23ºC on Sunday, in Funchal. Minimum temperatures in the archipelago do not drop below 16ºC over the weekend.
