The president () received this Wednesday (8) works restored after 2023 to the headquarters of the Three Powers. The vandalized pieces are being reintegrated into the Palácio do Planalto in ceremonies that mark the two years of the episode.

The first works presented were the and an amphora.

The clock was restored in Switzerland, at no cost to the Brazilian government, and arrived in Planalto the day before. According to the government, it belonged to Louis 15th’s watchmaker, and there is only one other of its kind, on display in Versailles, France.

At Planalto, the piece is located in the Audience Room, on the floor of the president’s office, where the event took place.

The exhibition was the first of three moments at the palace to mark the date. When speaking on the topic, First Lady Rosângela da Silva, stated that Planalto “was a victim of hatred that stimulates and continues to encourage anti-democratic acts, which”.

The first lady also mentioned , winner of the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama film for her performance in “”.

“There has never been a moment in history when authoritarian actions took place without our artists raising their voices in defense of democracy,” said Janja.

In a second event, there was a presentation of the work “As Mulatas”, by Di Cavalcanti. On January 8, the painting was torn in seven places and, according to Planalto, its estimated value was around R$8 million.

In total, according to Planalto, 21 pieces were restored by specialists at Palácio da Alvorada, where a kind of laboratory was created for specialists to work.

The third moment organized by Planalto is a ceremony with authorities, in the palace’s main hall, which stars Fernanda Torres.

“Today is the day to say loud and clear, we are still here. We are here to make sure that we are alive and that democracy is alive, contrary to what the coup plotters plan on January 8, 2033. We are here, women and men of different origins, beliefs, united for a common cause. We are here to say loud and clear dictatorship never again, democracy always”, he said.

The event takes place amid a transition at Secom. On Tuesday, minister Paulo Pimenta announced that the president decided to replace him with marketer Sidônio Palmeira, and a transition in the department has already begun. The events were organized with the participation of the new owner and also the first lady, according to reports.

Finally, Lula will participate in an event involving left-wing parties and social movements in Praça dos Três Poderes. It will be a symbolic embrace of the place. He will go down the ramp with other authorities.
